Periyar Wild life Sanctuary, Thekkady, Kerala, India

Come monsoon and Kerala is a wonderful place to be in and one such place is Thekkady, close to the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border town - Kumily.

Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the foothills of Western Ghats and spreads over an area 777 sq km. The sanctuary is famous for its thick evergreen forest, wild elephants and the lake. The huge attraction of Periyar is the lake and herds of wild elephants playing around the lake.
